A MAN died after sustaining a fatal neck injury in Bournemouth.
Benjamin Messer, 34, was found injured in the area of Victoria Place, near Holdenhurst Road, on Wednesday, October 23.
Emergency services attended the scene, and Mr Messer was taken to Poole Hospital, but was pronounced deceased on arrival.
Area coroner for Dorset, Brendan Allen, opened the inquest into his death at Bournemouth Town Hall on October 31.
Coroner's officer, Philippa Morgan, told Dorset Coroner’s Court that Mr Messer was born in Poole on June 12, 1990.
He had no fixed address and was not in work at the time of his death.
A post-mortem was conducted on October 29 which found Mr Messer’s provisional cause of death to be fatal bleeding from neck injuries.
Police have said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death or third-party involvement.
Mr Messer was identified by his patient wristband and hospital notes at Poole Hospital.
Mr Allen adjourned the inquest hearing to 10am on June 16, 2025.
He requested statements are submitted by Mr Messer’s family, GP, police, Poole Hospital and the mental health and alcohol services he was known to before December 12.
