A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a man known to her attacked her with a hammer.
It was reported that at around 2.30pm on October 31 a woman was assaulted at an address on Meadow Way in Verwood.
Officers arrived with the ambualnce service and the woman was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
A 20-year-old man from Verwood has since been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage.
A spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 2.33pm on Thursday 31 October 2024 of an assault at an address in Meadow Way in Verwood.
“It is reported that a woman was assaulted with a hammer by a man who is known to her.
“Officers attended with the ambulance service. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing.
“A 20-year-old man from Verwood was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage. He remains in police custody.
“An investigation is ongoing by detectives to establish the full circumstances of the incident and there will be an increased police presence while enquiries are carried out.”
