A NIGHT of Halloween ‘mischief’ prompted a fire and vandalism across Bournemouth and Poole.

Morebus announced on social media that it would not serve Turlin Moor for the rest of the evening on October 31 after projectiles were launched at buses.

Attacks on buses in Turlin Moor have been a continued issue for the service since 2022.

Richard Wade, Morebus general manager, said that some people are unable to draw the line between “a prank and a dangerous activity”.

“We continue to work with partner agencies to combat antisocial behaviour,” said Mr Wade.

“We are aware that Halloween promotes activity that some may regard as ‘mischief’.

“Unfortunately, in this case, some people didn’t seem to know where the line was drawn between a prank and a dangerous activity.

“We ask everyone to remember that anything thrown at bus can not only cause direct damage and injury but can also take the driver's attention.

“Please do not throw any items towards our vehicles.”

A fire broke out on the same night, close to beach huts on Boscombe seafront.

A witness said the fire is believed to have been caused by a firework, however, the fire service was not able to confirm this.

The witness told the Echo fireworks were being set off near the beach huts and one ended up in bushes very close to the beach huts.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Undercliff Drive to reports of a fire on the cliffside at 10.43pm.

Two crews attended, from Springbourne and Christchurch, and the fire was extinguished by 11.10pm.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said officers assisted the fire service, and the blaze is not believed to have been started deliberately.

The weekend before Halloween, two children were left gutted when vandals smashed their pumpkins.

Daisy and Phoebe Street, aged seven and three, “love” carving pumpkins for the season but on October 26 they were destroyed just days after being decorated.

The incident, on Haymoor Road in Poole, was caught on a Ring doorbell showing two teenagers grab the pumpkins and run away, before smashing them further down the road.

Their father, Jimmy Street, said: “I get kids can be kids, but the look on my daughters’ faces in the morning was gutting.”

Jimmy told the girls that a fox had eaten their pumpkins, in hopes of making them less upset.

He added that other residents also had their pumpkins destroyed on the same road.

However, Jimmy helped Daisy and Phoebe decorate new pumpkins and instead placed them on their garage roof so they could not be reached.
