A MAN wanted in connection with making threats to kill was arrested after being seen in possession of a knife.
Officers were alerted to reports of a man in possession of a knife in Bournemouth at around 7pm on November 6.
Armed police and a large presence of uniformed officers were seen searching areas in West Howe.
A NPAS helicopter was also seen circling the area at the time of the incident.
One man has now been arrested and remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 7.41pm on Wednesday 6 November 2024 that a man was believed to be in possession of a knife in the garden of an address in Poole Lane in Bournemouth.
“Officers attended and carried out a search of the area, assisted by the NPAS helicopter.
“Following further enquiries, a man aged in his 30s was arrested at an address in the West Howe area on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
“It was further reported that the man was wanted in connection with previous offences of making threats to kill and harassment and he was arrested in connection with these matters as well.
“There were no reports of any injuries. While we appreciate there was a significant policing presence in the area as searches were carried out, this incident is believed to involved individuals who are reported to be known to each other and there was no information to indicate any threat to the wider public.
“The arrested man remains in police custody and enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for NPAS said: "At 2024hrs on Wednesday 6 November 2024, a police helicopter crew from NPAS Bournemouth was tasked to attend the Bournemouth area to assist Dorset Police in a search for a suspect.
"The total flying time was one hour and 11 minutes."
