SIX Bournemouth training pitches have been transformed at Pelham’s leisure centre.
Arsenal goalie, Maddison Millington-Stanbury, regularly trains at the leisure centre and attended to celebrate.
Maddison trains at the centre through FANS (Free Access for National Sportspeople) membership scheme.
This scheme provides leading sports performers with access to training facilities without having to worry about the financial costs.
She said: “Having regular access to high-quality training pitches and local clubs such as the ones available at Pelhams has been extremely important in my journey to become an Arsenal football goalie.
“The refurbished pitches look and feel incredible, BH Live and the team at the centre have done a fantastic job.”
The renovation project was enabled by BH Live.
BH Live is a registered charity and has donated around £240,000 to enhance the leisure centres, improving them for the community.
The outdoor five-a-side pitches received a makeover, where they were resurfaced to resemble traditional pitches.
The work was carried out by Surfaces in Sport, which has also designed Premier League pitches.
Rob Cunningham, director of leisure and business development for BH Live, said: “We hope that this refurbishment project will encourage more young people to discover a love of football and have a go at a new sport.”
