A CHEQUE was presented to a sea cadet group in Boscombe.
St Michael’s Lodge chairman Carlo Marsango, charity steward Gary Anstead and past chairman Bob Lawton visited T.S. Phoebe, Unit 49 of the Sea Cadet Corps to present the £500 cheque raised by members.
The visitors were shown around the unit and said they were “very impressed with what they do for the youngsters”, aged between 10 and 18 years old.
Character building is top of the agenda along with boating activities mainly in the summer months for the cadets.
The money raised will go towards an inverter/generator for the sea scouts station in Iford – the Bournemouth Water Dragons also use the site for their activities.
It will also go towards fundraising to improve energy efficiency within in their facilities in Boscombe such as upgrading the lighting and windows.
Former chairman Bob Lawton said: “We are delighted to present this cheque to the sea cadets which will support young people and help them maintain their excellent facility.”
Sea Cadets chairman Roberto Rocco added: “He was pleased to receive this cheque and thanked St Michael’s for their support.”
