A NEW Milton student has become one of just five Lord-Lieutenant Cadets for Dorset.
Cadet Sergeant Charlie Burroughs joined the Christchurch Air Cadets in 2020 and has had a stellar rise by embodying the values of ‘dedication, leadership and commitment to excellence’.
At the Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset Awards ceremony, Michael Dooley LVO MMs FRCOG appointed the five recipients of the honour.
The ceremony, attended by family, friends, and community leaders, served as a poignant reminder of the positive impact the young leaders have delivered.
Charlie, who attends Arnewood School, will assist the lord-lieutenant on Royal visits and at civic ceremonies, acting as his aide-de-camp.
Jamie Anderson, headteacher of the New Milton school, said: “We are all incredibly proud of Charlie who is a prefect and serves on the school’s student council.
“Being just one of five Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets is a huge achievement and is reward for his efforts in the cadets.
“The values he has espoused that led to his appointment are the same ones we champion at Arnewood.”
