A FESTIVE ‘Elf Dash’ is set to raise important funds for University Hospitals Dorset’s new children’s classroom.

The 2km run has been organised by the trust to raise money for the brand-new classroom in the BEACH building’s children’s department.

University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) want to purchase additional items for the room, which aren’t covered by NHS funding, to provide young patients with an accessible and engaging space to continue their education while they are receiving care.

These items include laptops and iPads, and height-adjustable tables to accommodate pupils of all ages and abilities.

Elf Dash will take place on Sunday, December 8, and will see dozens of families, friends and NHS colleagues will run along Branksome seafront.

After crossing the finish line, participants can swing by to see Santa in his magical grotto, before enjoying some holiday treats, courtesy of several local Tesco stores.

UHD fundraising assistant Aurelia Chliwna said: “Elf Dash is a jolly day of fun for the whole family, from the festive run to nibbling on delicious treats while waiting to see Santa.

"It's even more exciting as funds raised will bring some extra Christmas magic to the new classroom in the BEACH Building, enhancing this safe and supportive learning environment for children undergoing treatment.”

UHD has partnered with United Taxis for the event, helping to drive the fundraising forward.

Aurelia added: “United Taxis plays a vital role in facilitating transportation for individuals throughout Dorset, whether they are traveling to a hospital appointment at one of our facilities or returning to their homes.

"We are immensely proud to collaborate with them. So, please dust off your favourite winter jumper, lace up your trainers and join us for a merry old time at Elf Dash.”
