THE driver of a Mercedes had to be cut free from the car after it crashed into a ditch. 

Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle crash at 8.33pm on Sunday, November 10, on the A31 between Canford Bottom Roundabout and Merley Roundabout. 

Fire crews from Wimborne fire station helped free the man using specialist equipment before he was taken into the care of paramedics. 

Police officers have said the driver is not believed to have suffered any serious injuries as a result of the crash. 

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service’s spokeswoman said: “We were called to the A31 between the Canford Bottom and Merley roundabouts at 9.01pm on Sunday evening, November 10 after a car left the road and ended up in a ditch.  

“Two crews from Wimborne attended, and hydraulic cutting equipment was used to free one casualty into the care of the ambulance service. Our stop was at 9.36pm.” 

Dorset Police’s spokesman added: “Road closures were put in place as emergency services responded and these were lifted shortly after 12am on Monday 11 November 2024.”
