ROAD chiefs and Wessex Water are exploring their options to carry out repair work that could not go ahead as planned.
A collapsed sewer pipe underneath Ringwood Road at Herbert Avenue in Poole will be replaced with a temporary pipe ready by Wessex Water, but an exact date is yet to be decided.
Emergency works elsewhere meant that the work planned to take place on Monday, November 4 could not go ahead.
It would have brought even more disruption to the already highly congested area, caused by the roadworks between Mountbatten Roundabout and Alderney Roundabout.
Wessex Water’s spokesman said: "The planned repair of a collapsed sewer pipe underneath Ringwood Road in Poole was postponed last week due to emergency gas repairs taking place along the proposed diversion route.
"We are exploring a suitable alternative date on which our own essential repair to take place with BCP Council, that takes into account avoiding worsening traffic across the town.''
Wessex Water will install the temporary pipe in the pavement from Herbert Avenue outside Horizon Honda Poole round to the point of the collapse in Ringwood Road.
The work will require a one-day lane closure in Herbert Avenue in the direction of Ringwood Road.
