ALLOTMENT fees in Christchurch will be rising by more than 21 per cent.
The fees will increase by 21.21 per cent, effective from January 2026.
All existing allotment tenants have now been informed of the upcoming changes, after Christchurch Town Council’s resources committee agreed to the increase back in April.
They were sent the new agreement along with a cover letter explaining the fee increase and providing information on the new agreements, including an FAQ section.
An allotment is traditionally measured in rods (perches or poles), and ten poles is the accepted size of an allotment.
The annual rental fees will increase as follows: A plot of 10 rods will rise from £82.50 to £100. A plot of five rods will rise from £41.25 to £50. A plot of 1 rod will rise from £8.25 to £10.
The existing rental fees and tenancy agreement, inherited from Christchurch Borough Council, have remained unchanged since the establishment of Christchurch Town Council.
