A ROAD is scheduled to close while the council remove a tree wedged under a bridge.
On Tuesday, November 19, Dorset Council will remove a tree wedged under a Longham bridge crossing the River Stour.
The A348 Ringwood Road will be closed, and a diversion will be in place from 10am until 2pm.
A Dorset Council spokesperson said: “The tree had uprooted further up the river before becoming trapped. If left, it could cause structural damage to the bridge.”
The council warned that the tree stuck in the parapet could cause a flood risk and damage the structure of the bridge.
The council spokesperson added: “Thank you for your patience as we deal with this tree-mendous task.”
Emergency work was carried out in Blandford in February this year after a similar situation left a fallen tree tapped under the town bridge.
