A BUSY bridge will be closed while workers undergo urgent work remove a tree stuck underneath.
Dorset Council has announced that Longham Bridge will be closed on November 19.
Diversions will be in place for motorists via Christchurch Road, New Road, Wimborne Road and vice versa.
It will come into operation on November 19 between 10am and 2pm and remain in force for five days, but it is anticipated that the works will be completed by November 19, 2024.
A spokesperson for Dorset Council said: “On Tuesday 19 November, we will be removing a tree wedged under Longham bridge, crossing the River Stour.
“The tree had uprooted further up the river before becoming trapped. If left, it could cause structural damage to the bridge.
“There will be a road closure and diversion from 10am until 2pm to enable us to safely and quickly remove the tree.
“Thank you for your patience as we deal with this tree-mendous task.”
