A WIDOWER died in hospital after his carers found him collapsed at his home in Bournemouth.
Norman Thomas Marchant, 92, was found on the floor and sadly died six days later in hospital.
Assistant coroner for Dorset, Richard Middleton, opened the inquest into his death at Bournemouth Town Hall on November 18.
Coroner’s officer, Grace Monro, told Dorset Coroner’s Court that Norman was born in London on September 18, 1932.
He was a retired engineer and widow to Pauline Marchant at the time of his death.
Ms Monro said on October 30 carers arrived at Norman’s home on Mandale Road in Bournemouth and found him on the floor after an unwitnessed fall.
Norman was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital where he was found to have a subdural hematoma.
Unfortunately, his condition worsened and Norman was placed onto end of life care.
He was later found deceased by doctors on November 5.
Norman’s medical cause of death was found to be traumatic subdural hematoma and Alzheimer’s disease.
Mr Middleton adjourned the hearing for a full inquest on April 16, 2025 at 11am.
