A BOURNEMOUTH-BASED law firm has announced it will open a brand-new branch as it celebrates its 25th birthday this year.

Chester & Co was founded in 1999 by the late John Chester from his home in Argyll Road, Boscombe

It has since evolved into a “thriving” business under the leadership of Lucy Lafferty-Brown, who joined in 2012.

And in January, it will open a new branch in Christchurch as it enters its next chapter in growth.

Lucy said: "We've built a loyal client base in the region, and having a high street presence will help us serve them even better."

She added: "When I joined, the firm was generating a turnover of just £50,000 a year, as John was cautious about crossing the VAT threshold, not wanting to burden clients with additional costs.

"Today, while the business has grown considerably, the same client care and commitment to value that John established remain at the heart of Chester & Co. It's why we’ve been so successful.”

In 2017, the firm took a significant step forward, moving into its own freehold premises in Christchurch Road (formerly the NatWest Bank).

From these new headquarters, the all-female team of 14 full-time employees continues to provide legal services, particularly in conveyancing, a department now led by newly appointed equity partner Holly Wakenshaw.

Heidi Oran, a landlord and tenant solicitor, has also been appointed as a partner and was previously a director at Laing Law. She specialises in lease extensions and collective enfranchisement.

Holly, who marks her 10th year with Chester & Co this month, said: "I started as Lucy's assistant in John Chester's front lounge, where a slipper propped the door open for visiting clients."
