AN investigation into a sex offence will not continue after the victim said she didn’t want the case to proceed.

A woman said she was sexually assaulted in an alleyway off Charminster Road, Bournemouth, during the early hours of October 6.

She said she was assaulted by a man that she had met earlier that evening.

Providing an update, Dorset Police’s spokeswoman said detailed enquiries were carried out by detectives when the report was made to police, including carrying out CCTV checks in the area.

She added: “Officers liaised with the victim to provide support and to try to obtain a full account. She does not wish the case to proceed at this time and we respect her wishes.

“We would like to reassure that any victims of sexual offences will be treated with respect and dignity and we will always investigate such reports thoroughly and sensitively.”
