A ‘PROLIFIC' disqualified driver has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison for a ‘complete disregard that he was disqualified from driving.’
23-year-old Kieran Penaluna of Poole has been charged with driving whilst disqualified and appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, November 6.
At around 3.30pm on Tuesday, November 5, a traffic officer spotted a motorcycle travelling on Hillcrest Road in Poole and recognised the rider as being disqualified from holding or obtaining a licence.
The officer stopped the motorcyclist, and it was confirmed that he was currently disqualified.
He was arrested and taken into custody before being charged and brought before the court.
On Wednesday, November 6, the motorcyclist was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “The defendant was a prolific disqualified driver who was endangering other motorists by showing a complete disregard to the fact he was already banned from driving.
“The officer, in this case, showed great tenacity in identifying the rider and ensuring they were taken off the roads.
“We know that driving or riding a motorbike without a licence can also be linked to other crimes and we are committed to working tirelessly to make sure that disqualified motorists are not blighting the road network in Dorset.”
