A SECTION of one of the busiest, most congested roads in the conurbation will be closed on Thursday.
Ringwood Road, Poole, will be closed on November 21 southbound between the junctions of Mannings Heath Road and Herbert Avenue from 9.30am.
It will allow Wessex Water to install a temporary pipe to the existing damaged sewer ahead of the full repairs at an unspecified date.
The utility company has said it expects the road to be reopened the following day from 7am.
At the end of October, a section of the sewer underneath Ringwood Road collapsed. Wessex Water opted to install a temporary pipe in the pavement and return at a later date to complete the necessary repairs under a longer road closure.
A Wessex Water spokesman said: “By installing the temporary pipe and delaying the repair, we can avoid worsening traffic in the area with other roadworks happening nearby and keep the sewer network working as normal.
“We will liaise with BCP Council to agree a date for the full sewer repair to begin and ensure that any associated traffic management measures are well publicised. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
