A FORMER GP surgery manager from the New Forest has published a new book.
Alice May has published her book The Mid-Life Trials of Annabeth Hope.
Alice started writing in 2016 and has been enjoying playing with words.
The book follows Annabeth as she grapples with her blended family when a new neighbour moves in next door, turning her life even further upside down.
Alice said: “Having raised four spirited children in a crumbling cottage in the New Forest, I wanted to write about how a family can pull together to get through tough times.
"Ten years ago, half our house fell down and all six of us ended up living in a tent in the garden. About eight weeks later, we moved into a caravan for the rest of the time it took to rebuild. I used that experience as inspiration for Annabeth’s storyline.
"The second main inspiration for this book came from my 20 years working as an NHS general practice manager.
"During that time, I supported several colleagues suffering with burn out. I wanted to shine a light on some of the complexities of a system that I feel doesn’t support medics enough."
