SANDBANKS chain ferry will be back in action this afternoon.

The ferry has been out of service since November 5 for a planned refit.

The Bramble Bay Bush ferry will resume service 2pm today, November 21.

Giving an update on social media, a spokesperson said: “Our first journey will be from the North Side (Sandbanks) at 2pm, and then our normal schedule will follow.

“Thank you all for your patience and we look forward to seeing you this afternoon.”

Bramble Bush Bay came into service in January 1994, and is the fourth ferry to operate this service since the Bournemouth-Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company came into being.

During the last biannual refit in November 2022, the ferry was damaged while being towed to Falmouth.

Its prow arms were severely and as a result the service was out of action until February 2023.
