A DORSET-based charity that supports young people affected by cancer has created a powerful film showcasing the impact of its work.

Youth Cancer Trust has entered the short film into the Smiley Charity Film Awards.

The documentary features interviews with young people living with and beyond cancer at Youth Cancer Trust where they find respite, friendship, and renewed hope.

Wendy Parrott, programme coordinator at the charity, said: "At the heart of Youth Cancer Trust is our value of 'empowerment.

"We strive to equip young people with the strength, confidence, and support they need to overcome challenges, build lasting friendships, and embrace life with hope and resilience. This film demonstrates this commitment in action."

Through personal testimonies, the film shows how the charity's approach helps young people rebuild confidence and create lasting support networks during their cancer journey.

Youth Cancer Trust has been supporting young people aged 14 to 30 with cancer since 1997, providing free therapeutic wellbeing holidays and online support.

Public voting is now open, and supporters can cast their votes at https://smileycharityfilmawards.com/charities/youth-cancer-trust

The winner of the Smiley Charity Film Awards will be announced in March.

The charity said a win would “significantly boost awareness of the charity's vital work and help reach more young people in need of support”.
