A MAN threatened a person with a tin of baby formula after stealing alcohol and steaks from a Co-op.
Daniel Hewitt, 48 and of Jubilee Way in Sturminster Marshall, was sentenced at Poole Magistrates’ Court for two counts of theft from a shop, using threatening or abusive words or behaviour and threatening a person with an offensive weapon.
On June 26 Hewitt was found to have stolen two tins of baby formula and a loaf of bread to the value of £91.50 as well as £53.80 worth of canned alcohol, wine and steaks.
While at the store on Wareham Road in Corfe Mullen, Hewitt was reported to have used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a person, with the intent to cause them fear of violence.
He also admitted to threatening the same person with an offensive weapon, namely ‘two tins of baby formula’.
For the four charges Hewitt was handed a community order until November 24, 2025, ordered to complete six months of alcohol treatment, 10 days of rehabilitation activity and pay compensation of £150.
