A DRIVER has been ordered to pay almost £6,000 in fines and costs after admitting to making false documents and driving without taking breaks.
Joseph William Barrass, 34 and of Heol Fawr, Caerphily, appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court for eight charges across five dates.
The defendant admitted to five counts of making a record or entry on an EC regulated journey which he knew to be false on January 18, February 29, March 21, March 26 and April 15.
He was fined £516 for each charge and was also ordered to pay £853 in prosecution costs as well as a victim surcharge of £1404.
Barrass also admitted to three counts of driving a vehicle on an EC regulated journey for more than four and a half hours, namely more than six and a half hours, without taking a minimum break of 45 minutes.
These charges relate to incidents on March 21, March 26 and April 14.
He was fined £310 for each charge.
Barrass was ordered to pay a total of £5,767, with contributions of £200 per month.
