ONE of the UK’s most festive streets will switch on its Christmas lights next month.
Runton Road in Branksome has been delighting visitors with its illuminations for more than 30 years.
The event has become a popular occurrence during the holiday season with many families flocking to enjoy the festive tradition.
Once again, some of the residents in the cul-de-sac will turn on their lights on Saturday, December 14.
Residents taking part raise money for charity and have collection boxes for their chosen charities put in place outside their homes.
Through the years residents have raised thousands of pounds for charity.
Visitors are encouraged to park away from the road and walk up to enjoy the spectacle.
The dazzling display has previous been kickstarted with a major launch featuring a line-up of local musical talent and was even once featured on BBC’s The One Show.
However, in recent years, the switch ons have become a more subdued affair amid rising energy bills.
