SHOPPERS are being urged to buy from Wimborne traders for 'Small Business Saturday'.
Small Business Saturday is on December 7 and encourages shoppers to celebrate independent businesses.
Co-owner of independent business East Street Deli, Simon Warren, said: "We often hear that the high street is dead but due to the support of the Wimborne community and hard work from the local businesses, many of them made up of very small teams, this town is thriving.”
With the support of Wimborne BID, Wimborne businesses have joined together with offers and promotions for shoppers in the lead up to Christmas.
In Church Street, there will be a Christmas street party, where there'll be music, food and drink provided by Oddfellows pub, Ten Bottles wine bar and the Levantine restaurant.
There will also be a festive 'block party' taking place in East Street, where shoppers can enjoy food and local businesses.
Simon Warren said: "Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity for everyone to celebrate this by supporting these brilliant shops and services.”
Wimborne BID chair Fiona Harwood added: “Small, independent businesses are hugely important not only to the economy but also the individuality of a town.
"Small Business Saturday is a great way for us all to celebrate and support the unique flavour they bring to Wimborne.”
Wimborne BID are also encouraging people to shout out their local businesses with the hashtag #SmallBizSatUK.
