A ‘PERSON in danger’ was recovered from the water in a park in Poole during a late-night rescue.

Poole Coastguard Rescue Team was called to Baiter Park at around 10.40pm on November 27 to help police and the ambulance service.

It was reported that a person was in danger in the water and two tethered coastguard rescue officers entered to use a ‘snatch rescue’.

Once recovered from the water, the person was handed into the care of paramedics.

A spokesperson for Poole Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Requested by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Dorset Police with an individual in danger at the above location.

“Once on scene, water rescue safety cover and snatch capability was established for the emergency services and the individual.

“During the incident, two tethered coastguard rescue officers entered the water and carried out a snatch rescue.

“The casualty was then handed over into the care of paramedics on scene and our two rescue officers, removed from the scenario as a duty of care, to de-kit and rewarm.

“With the casualty being transported to the next level of care, the OIC (officer in charge) gathered information for JRCC and carried out a debrief on scene.

“We were thanked by all services in attendance and then we stood down returning to our station.

“A CRO (Coastguard Rescue Officer) from Southbourne Coastguard was also in attendance with the Poole Team.”
