An interactive map has shown which parts of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are in danger of coastal flooding and sea level rises.

A map created by Climate Central, an independent organisation of scientists and journalists shows the rising sea level and coastal flood maps indicating areas of the county that could be flooded by the end of the century.

Climate Central research and reports on the impacts of climate change, including sea level rise and coastal flooding, extreme weather by using science, technology, and big data.

The map uses current projections and peer-reviewed science in leading journals. It shows project of sea level rise and annual flood by the Year 2100.

The coast from Mudeford Sandbank in Southbourne to areas of Christchurch Priory is under red, meaning below water level.

Areas in Christchurch like PureWell, Christchurch Priory, Bridge Street are in danger.

Rising sea levels are greatly affecting coastal areas of Hengistbury Head and suburb of Bournemouth, Tuckton.

All the way up through Bournemouth Beach to just beyond Sandbanks could also fall victim to rising flood levels in future.

Climate Central has mentioned that the maps include big datasets, “which always include some error.”

“These maps should be regarded as screening tools to identify places that may require deeper investigation of risk.

“Our approach makes it easy to map any scenario quickly and reflects threats from permanent future sea-level rise well.

"However, the accuracy of these maps drops when assessing risks from extreme flood events.

"Our maps are not based on physical storm and flood simulations and do not take into account factors such as erosion, future changes in the frequency or intensity of storms, inland flooding, or contributions from rainfall or rivers."

The Poole area is at a big risk, showing many zones under danger.

Areas like historic Poole Quayside, Hamworthy Park, Baiter Park and parts of Upton Country Park are facing issues in future.
