EMERGENCY services were called to two different assaults in the same road over the weekend which left a man with lacerations and a police officer attacked.

Police were first called to Northcote Road in Bournemouth shortly before 5.30pm on Saturday, November 30, after reports that a man had been assaulted.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, sustained lacerations to his thumb, finger and arm, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

An 18-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of inflicted grievous bodily harm with intent and was released on police bail.

Detective Inspector Darren Moores, of BCP CID, said: “Our enquiries are continuing into this incident and I would ask anyone who may have seen what happened to please get in touch.

“I am also keen to speak with any residents with home CCTV or anyone who was driving in the area and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”

At around 9.45pm the following day, on December 1, police and the fire and ambulances services were called to an address in Northcote Road.

It was reported a man inside the property was causing damage to items and began throwing items at officers.

After attempting to engage with the man officers gained entry at around 1.20am and arrested an 18-year-old on suspicion of affray, criminal damage and assaulting an emergency officer.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Dorset Police were unable to confirm if the two incidents involved the same person.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 22:15hrs on Sunday 01 December to an incident in Bournemouth. We sent two double-crewed ambulances to the scene.”

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 10:58pm yesterday (01 December) to assist the police with an incident on Northcote Road, Bournemouth.

“One fire engine from Springbourne attended along with a support vehicle from Hamworthy. 

“Our stop was at 1.27am.”
