A NEW Bodega restaurant is due to come to Southbourne in the new year.
Bodega, which is a Spanish tapas bar located in Christchurch, is extending its brand to Southbourne.
The new site will be taking over from Terroir Tapas on Southbourne Grove.
The business is hoping to open before Christmas.
Business partner’s Jason Giddings and Dave Burns, said they are extremely excited for the new venture.
Jason said: “We were looking to move into Southbourne build up our bodega brand.”
Jason said the Southbourne branch will be a “replication of what we currently have in Christchurch”.
For those unfamiliar with the restaurant, it provides “the taste of Spain” through its tapas food and offers an “ever-evolving wine list”.
The business takes great pride in the atmosphere of the bar, stating on its website that it has: "Warm ambient lighting and an open kitchen so you can hear, smell and see our dishes being brought to life as you sit and relax."
With the original site, it said on the website that it's “unlike anything else in Christchurch”.
As previously reported, Jason and Dave took over the wine bar, Bodega, on July 1 2022, and since then they have introduced tapas, patisseries, draft beers, cocktails, and a new wine list to Bodega.
The Wick Lane venue has recently undergone a refurbishment which Jason says has been well received by customers and the general public.
He said: “It’s something we’ve wanted to do for ages and to get hold of a new site is a big dream of us.”
As well as expanding their business, Jason said they also want to “bring something a bit more diverse to the community of Southbourne”.
He also said Southbourne was their first choice for a second location.
He said: “We have been looking around for a little while now.
“But ultimately Southbourne was where we’ve wanted to be for a little while now.”
When thinking of the future, Jason said they would love to expand even more.
He said that they hope to keep growing their brand predominately across BCP; however, they would not be against expanding outside of the area.
