Gordon Brown owes me a new shirt. Or at least the price of dry cleaning my old one.
I was sipping coffee, minding my own business, and reading the BBC news website.
Then I spotted the link to “PM pays tribute to Countdown”
I clicked on it and only had time to be flabberghasted by Gordon’s opening remark “I wanna congratulate Countdown on reaching 25 years on air…” and the leader of our great nation carries on in the same inane grinning way, as if he was saying something of importance instead of talking about entertainment television on Channel 4.
How much time must the leader of Her Majesty’s Government spend recording these pointless little clips to feed to the internet?
As I said, I got to “Countdown” and the silly grin, and then I caught my coffee cup with my fingers and tipped it all down my shirt and trousers.
So I had to go out and get a new shirt.
Still the upside of that little drama is that when G Brown hears about it I know he’ll record a special videocast message for me and post it on the internet. Grin and all.
When he’s done that he can get back to running the country.
