ENIGMATIC Bournemouth rave legends North & South are reuniting for the first time in 15 years on Sunday (May 3) to play a six-hour set at the town’s Room Six club ending at 4am on Monday.

Nigel Casey (North) and Justin Harris (South) got together in Bournemouth in the first flush of acid house in 1989 and played at many of Dorset’s earliest parties, winning MixMag’s Club of the Year award in 1989 for their night Boy With Style.

“These guys were the dons of acid house,” says Room Six promoter Paul Potter.

“They were the first ever DJs to get arrested for setting up acid house parties illegally and I’ve had calls from all the local guys and many of the superstar DJs of that era like Danny Rampling who want to come and see North & South back on the decks.” Since those heady days, both have gone on to forge hit-making careers as artists/producers in their own right – Justin records with Luke Solomon under the name Freaks and scored a top 10 hit last summer with Creeps.

The duo are also being lined up to appear alongside celebrity DJ royalty Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan at Formula One Warehouse, Paul Potter’s international celebration of 20 years of acid house kicking off in Singapore on May 23.

Any 24-hour party people in Bournemouth this weekend might like to get in the mood for North & South’s reunion at It’s A Body Thing’s daytime pool party at the Cumberland Hotel from midday until sunset.

It’s the first of a series of Sunday Café Del Mar-style events at the venue this summer.
