MORE than 120 artists have signed up to exhibit in the Art Pavilion at this year’s New Forest and Hampshire County Show at New Park, Brockenhurst.

Art Pavilion organiser Gervaise Gregory has been inundated with requests from artists eager to give demonstrations at the show on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 28, 29 and 30.

Rosemary Sarah Welch who paints in oils and acrylics, watercolourist Virginia Whiting, potter Penny Stevens and clay sculptor Carole Dickson will be demonstrating there on all three days.

In addition, three artists with skilful ways with wood will also give demonstrations. They are Jill Rumsey (Tuesday), Paul Humphriss (Wednesday) and Edwin Beecroft (Thursday).

Judges Clare Kitcher, Helen Talbot, Rosemary Sarah Welch, Jill Gillespie and Melvyn Gates will be showing their works and selecting 25 exhibits to be awarded the New Forest Show Art Pavilion Medal of Excellence.

Show President Cllr Ken Thornber will be picking one picture worthy of a medal.

Noted avian sculptor Geoffrey Dashwood who lives near Ringwood is providing a large bronze owl, weighing in at one tonne, to stand outside the Art Pavilion. He is to transport the owl at his own expense as a contribution to the society.
