AN icon of the Cold War will be swooping into this year's More Bus Bournemouth Air Festival making a welcome return after ten years of restoration work.
The Avro Vulcan B2 XH558 will join the line-up of spectacular aircraft on Saturday August 22 thanks to the generosity of local businesses.
It was last seen in Bournemouth 18 years ago, captained by Paul Millikin, and only returned to the air show circuit after thousands of hours of hands-on restoration work by the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, costing around £6million.
Dr Robert Pleming (correct), CEO of Vulcan to the Sky said he felt a sense of pride that the team working on the Vulcan has managed to finish this unique achievement in getting the Vulcan to flight and that he was looking forward to demonstrate this to its loyal supporters.
Air Festival director Jon Weaver, said: "Securing the Vulcan is a great achievement for the town and the festival.
"We are delighted to have this fantastic aircraft in the display line-up, we will keep our fingers crossed that everything goes to plan and the Vulcan adds to the already impressive air festival line-up.
"The festival promises to be a historical event for the town."
