DORSET education chiefs are ploughing ahead with plans to shake up the schools system in Purbeck, despite huge opposition in some parts of the district.
The county council consulted with a host of parties earlier this year and has now published its plans.
Councillors will be asked to give the go ahead in principle to closing middle schools and swap to a two-tier system in a bid to eradicate 1,000 surplus places in the system.
When the plans were announced last year, there was fierce opposition in some parts of the district, particularly in Swanage and Wool. Parents, teachers and governors will get the chance to have more of a say in those areas as the council embarks on further consultation to figure out how the system can work best.
