AROUND 50 protestors with banners and placards have already gathered outside Bournemouth town hall this morning, showing their feelings about plans for a travellers’ site.
If the cabinet meeting at 10.30am approves plans for the site, off the Wessex Way at Cambridge Road and Suffolk Road, the council will submit a planning application and a bid for government funding.
One protestor, who lives in Branksome Wood Road, said: “I just do not think it is the right area for it. I think the New Forest or in the country would be better rather than the town.”
Ben Phillips, 32, a claims manager who lives in Alumhurst Road, said: “I think it’s just a bad idea to have it there.”
Protester Max Clarke, 29, a customer services manager, said he was pleased so many people had joined the protest this morning.
He is hoping to address the meeting.
There have been 940 signatures online and 700 on paper in a petition against the scheme.
