Ferndown’s Sainsbury’s store has chosen to support the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
The foundation was set up in memory of Lt John Thornton who was killed in a roadside bombing in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on March 30 last year.
It aims to encourage and assist young people to “climb as high as they can dream” by providing annual scholarships and bursaries.
Sainsbury’s staff will support the foundation by giving their time through volunteer work. The store will also organise fundraising activities throughout the year, which customers will be encouraged to support.
The store kicks off the partnership this Sunday with an in-store collection.
