After a report in the Daily Echo last Monday, it has finally been revealed that former Hear’Say singer Suzanne Shaw did tie the knot in Christchurch.

The 27-year-old star, who also won Dancing on Ice, married fiance DJ Jason King, 33, in a glamorous ceremony at the Captain’s Club Hotel on Sunday June 14.

Regular visitors to Christchurch, the couple selected the venue after falling in love with it during previous magazine shoots and the hotel was closed to guests for the day to allow the wedding to take place in private.

Celebrity guests at the event included Suzanne’s former bandmates Noel Sullivan and Danny Foster as well as Dancing on Ice contestants Kyran Bracken, Clare Buckfield and Roxanne Pallett, judges Ruthie Henshall and Karen Barber and professional skaters Jayne Torvill, Matt Evers, Dan Whiston and Maria Filippov.

The hotel director’s PA and Suzanne’s personal wedding planner Cheryl Davies said the day went “brilliantly”.

She added: “It was a beautiful day. Suzanne’s done some work with us before in various magazines, but they love the place and they come down as often as they can.

“She’s become a friend of the hotel and a friend of mine and they’re both regulars at the hotel and really like Christchurch. So they asked us if we would do it for them and we said of course.”

The event was covered by a OK! magazine, but Cheryl said the staff were no trouble.

“You wouldn’t have known they were here, they were an absolute pleasure to work with. We would definitely welcome celebrity weddings in the future.”
