A young polish woman subjected to a horrific racist attack on a night out in Poole told how she is now too afraid to go out alone.

Anna Bartman is in constant pain and struggles to sleep following the ordeal on the dance floor in Yates bar on the High Street at 11pm on Saturday.

The 28-year-old waitress was out with a friend when she was approached by a woman who asked where she was from. She was then pulled by her hair to the ground, where she was repeatedly kicked in the head and body by four women.

Anna whose English is slightly imperfect said: “She took my hair, she slapped me and took me to the floor and started to kick my head and my body. I was screaming and nobody helped me.”

She added: “I was speaking with my friend and she must have known by my language – that’s why she came for me.”

She told the Daily Echo she later saw her attackers laughing at her outside.

Anna, who moved to the UK three years ago, said it was the first time she had been out to a pub since moving to Poole two months ago, and she usually only goes with her boyfriend.

“Now I’m scared of going outside. I always take someone with me – I’m scared those girls are out there,” she added.

“I am always friendly to people. I never had anyone who didn’t like me. Never in my country and never in this country has anything like that happened to me before.”

Anna has been signed off work for two weeks and is taking medication for the painful bruising on her head.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 01202 or 01305 22 22 22 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
