MUM heard back from the Harley Street place. Basically the details of the referral process (via consultant) and the cost (£20,000 per round, per area of the body).
I phone Dr George and asked if the cyberknife treatment was something we should be considering.
He explained that because my cancer is widespread it wouldn’t be beneficial as cyberknife is for treating single tumours.
He said that at this stage chemo is the best treatment for me and maybe in the future radiotherapy or tumour embolisation – whatever that is???
It’s weird. I felt a bit of a surge of excitement at the thought that we may have overlooked something and there may be a cure for this.
I always knew it wasn’t a goer because it would have been mentioned before now as an option if we had the funds.
It is reassuring to know that they will try other things before giving up and I know Dr Hickish is very highly thought of in the field of cancer treatment so I’m confident I’m in good hands.
