MUM told me today about a mailing she received from a cancer charity (just by chance) and it said ‘Did you know that if breast cancer spreads to the bones it is incurable?’ Now I know they are just trying to pull at heartstrings and scare people into giving money, but do they have any idea how painful it was for my mum (and no doubt many others).
It’s so hard when things like that happen because you just don’t expect it.
I suppose it’s no worse than me publishing my journal to try and pull at heartstrings to raise money.
No it is worse, people can chose not to read this.
Anyway, I’m thrilled with the amount we’ve raised. We’re up to £827 (which if you include Gift Aid is already £1,000).
I’ve decided that once I’ve reached my target I’m going to stop doing the journal – well publishing it anyway.
I feel that I’ve given a good insight into what living with cancer is like and so it has done what I wanted, the money is fantastic too.
I just feel that I write differently knowing other people will read it, it feels odd that my friends know so much about me, but also when I meet these women from Shine they are already going to know all about me. What will we talk about?
Maybe I can keep Paula updated with what’s happening to me and I could re-start again. We’ll see.
I just need to get that final £173 to reach my target proper.
