Yes we are going to include Halo 3: ODST in this week's launch list even though it was really in last week's launch window.
Listed in order of preference: 1) Halo 3: ODST: 360 (obviously)
2) Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: PS3, 360, Wii
3) Professor Layton and Pandora's Box: DS
4) Gran Turismo: PSP
5) Dead Space Extraction: Wii
It is an obvious one and almost a shame as Marvel UA2 should really be the winner this week as it is a corker of a game. I warn you now I am biased as I really do adore the Civil War storyline which (after playing a few intro chapters) you really get thrown in the middle of the storyline that rips the Marvel universe apart.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance is definitely the cross platform choice of the week and should not be missed by the hardcore Marvel fans. The gameplay is pretty similar to the first title and X-Men Legends before it, so be prepared for some repetition and bucket loads of challenging battles.
Next up Professor Layton coming in with his next mystery on the DS. Any Layton title is a clear winner and is one of must-by titles on the DS. Sometimes the puzzles are excruciating but most of the time you're in for fun.
Fourth place goes to Gran Turismo on the PSP. Many promises and many years too late but definitely still wanted. All the GT you can take is crammed into this UMD and it is one you need to see to believe as the graphics are top notch along with the roster. Perhaps that's why it took so long...
Finally for the Wii fans out there who are still holding on in hope that some decent titles are coming out, you've got a real good exclusive. Dead Space is an odd one really. The original was available on most consoles but not on the Wii. This prequel has been granted Wii exclusivity a year later. So if you're a Dead Space fan and don't have a Wii, well... you better buy one. Although don't expect the same stellar gameplay as this title is one of those "rails" shooters. Meaning you are guided through the game and don't do any of the walking yourself. Don't be fooled as there is a lot of interaction to be done and Visceral games have managed to make a rather intelligent title with this license. Certainly worth a look if you're wearing out the Conduit.
Otherwise that big title we're stuck into right now is ODST. I'm going to save my fingers here and not divulge into September's killer game. I'll let you guys form your own opinions and comment below. Suffice to say I really enjoy the gameplay, love firefight and am pretty sure the storyline is streets ahead of Halo 3.
Enjoy the games this weekend and keep pressing those buttons!
