Spoilt for choice if you're a 360 owner this week, but it's more than likely that you're only interested in one title. PS3 fans will be wondering whether to sit this week out, and Wii owners.... well if you like Vernon Kay then you'll be happy.
1) Forza Motorsport 3: 360
2) EyePet: PS3
3) Borderlands: PS3, 360
4) PES 2010: PS3, 360, PC0
5) GTA - Chinatown Wars: PSP
Forza is this week's top title. If you're a Gran Turismo fan and can bear considering checking this out on the 360 you will not be sorry. It's clear that this is the big competitor that has desperately been trying to prove itself against Polyphonic's beast. This time they may have just done it, that is provided Gran Turismo 5 doesn't ship on those rumored 3 Blu Ray discs....
The car roster is more than impressive and the detail, the sheer work that has gone into the perfect reproduction of them is absolutely stunning. You would be forgiven for forgetting that this isn't running on the PS3! Packing in plenty of challenges for the regular chap like myself and enough to keep the petrol heads happy for years this title should hit number one easily in the shops this weekend. If you haven't seen it yet go have a look down in GAME or Gamestation as I'm sure they'll be happy enough to show you!
Second place goes to the PS3's answer to Nintendogs. Let's get this straight now, if you like technology then you will love this. If you have patience then you will love this. Otherwise skip reading this, go get Pro Evo or Brutal legend or something else. If you like pets then buy a pet.
EyePet is very clever and works great with kids too, sweeten the deal by telling them they're playing it before the rest of the world as it's been delayed in other countries till next year.
How does it work? Using the Playstation camera and a Magic Card to create a virtual pet that you interact with using this card. I found the monkey thing a little scary, but only in the same way I still find Chucky a little scary. It is fiddly and doesn't respond perfectly to everything you try to do with him, like feeding him but it is impressive nonetheless and it is a great demonstration of where video game technology is headed. This time next year we can all hope to be interacting more with video games, it is going to happen.
Borderlands gets shunted to third place. I agree completely with what Michael Pachter said earlier this week, this title has been sent to it's death. Personally I don't have the time for this title. It may do well, it may not. It's like Fallout meets XIII. Very clever, a bit lacking on the story front and a bit dull. Gearbox have pushed out some really good features in this title but it just failed to inspire me, which is a shame because it looked very promising. I just don't have the patience to work on another character in another game, I'd rather explore a universe myself instead of hiking around it to do more stuff to level my chap up. If you've got time and you like apocalyptic games then have a go, otherwise grab Brutal Legend.
Pro Evo. I'm not really going to entertain this one. I'm not much of a football fan but it must be said that this is the best in the series yet. It's not better than Fifa but you need to make your own mind up about that.
Chinatown wars! Fifth place goes to a rather good title that PSP fans should be very thankful to have. The PSP is getting a bit of flack still as it does seem to be victim to confusing SKU's along with a terrible level of piracy. Somehow Rockstar managed to see past this and put across a magnificent conversion of last year's DS title. In all honesty I prefer it on the DS but PSP owner will enjoy it nonetheless!
That's all from me this week, looking forward to next week's DJ Hero!
