Getting the most out of your wedding photography: Part Three

The best light of the day often comes around sunset. If it is at all possible, maybe reserve some time in your day's schedule, around this point, to spend time out with your photographer to capture some Bride & Groom portraits.

If this doesn't prove possible then no great problem but some alone time (albeit with photographer in tow) at any stage of the day can allow the couple to relax and connect.

Celebrating into the night

As your day's celebrations continue on into the late hours it becomes apparent that the story of your wedding day has certainly not yet ended.

All-day wedding photography contracts tend to specify the first dance as the end point of coverage. It might be worth asking your photographer if he or she could include the second dance, so to speak, as friends and family join you on the dance floor; a poignant way to complete the story of your day visually.

Photo booths

For those wishing to have more group shots than might be comfortably accommodated earlier in the day, it's certainly worth considering having a 'photo booth' during the evening reception.

Giving your guests the chance to capture their own, professional looking photographs, it's amazing how even the most camera-shy come to life when they're in control of the shot. Ask your photographer about options for this.

The importance of memories you can hold on to

With your happy day celebrated to the full and the visual record secured, as a parting note please do consider how you're going to keep hold of those cherished photographic memories down the years (and even generations!)

Whilst access to and sharing of digital image files is popular and indeed highly convenient these days, do bear in mind that bits and bytes have a habit of corrupting and computer drives tend to wear out whereas a well printed physical photograph or album will last for a lifetime and beyond.
