FOUR people are being questioned under the Terrorism Act after arrests in the Parkstone area of Poole, it was revealed on Sunday evening.
Dorset Police said they had mounted a joint operation with the UK Border Agency in the Ashley Road area last Wednesday, December 9.
They initially arrested and detained six people – five men in their 20s and 30s and a 16-year-old male – on suspicion of illegal entry into the country.
Four of those people, including the 16-year-old, were later arrested under Section 40 of the Terrorism Act.
Police applied to a district judge at Bournemouth Magistrates court on Saturday to extend the period of detention until Thursday, December 17.
The extension was granted and the four were moved to a police station outside Dorset “to provide the detainees with the most suitable custody facilities”, the force said.
A statement said: “While the investigation is continuing, there is currently no identified threat of any risk or harm to the people of Dorset or the United Kingdom.”
