A BAPTIST church in Boscombe hopes to set up a “street pastors” scheme in the area.
There are over 100 teams of street pastors around the UK. Street pastors work a minimum of one night a month, getting to know people in the community, listening and caring for those on the streets at night.
Anyone interested can attend a meeting at Rosebery Park Baptist on March 22 at 7pm chaired by Guy Nicholas of Dorset Police. Tony Stephens from Weymouth will tell how the scheme works there.
One mum says of the scheme: “It is so refreshing and reassuring to know that there are kind, genuine people out there who are keeping our children safe. My baby may be 20 – however, as an intelligent, beautiful young woman, when alcohol is involved she and her friends are all ‘at risk’.”
