AN UNCLE and nephew duo proved goal-scoring is in their genes when they both netted a hat-trick in the same game.

Now parks footballer Danny Payne is wary of losing his star striker status to his nephew.

Danny – top scorer this season for Bournemouth FA Saturday team South Coast Demolition – was delighted with his performance last weekend.

The 32-year-old took his tally for the campaign to 26 goals by firing a hat-trick as Demolition lived up to their name with a crushing 15-0 victory over AFC West Moors in Division Four.

With his job already done, Payne was substituted in the second half – only to be upstaged.

Having made way after scoring his third, Payne watched on as his sister’s son, 19-year-old Shaun Page, came on and netted a treble of his own.

“Ten minutes into the second half the manager said he wanted to bring on Shaun and, lo and behold, he scored three,” Danny, of Poole, told the Daily Echo.

“I was pleased for him. He’s not had many starts this season and it was nice he got on the scoresheet. I don’t want him to take my place!”

Danny, who taught his nephew a few tricks when he used to kick a ball around with the youngster when he was growing up, is now having to look over his shoulder.

“He’s got his eye on my place,” he joked. “He scored on his debut as well – and that will probably go down as the goal of the season.

“There are two spots up front but no doubt he’ll be gunning for me – I’m sure he’d rather take my place.”

Sunseeker carpentry apprentice Shaun thinks his uncle might be a “bit worried” about his form.

“I think he was pleased for me but he didn’t really say much,” he said.

“The team have been giving him some abuse, which is quite funny.”

When asked if he had a message for his uncle, Shaun joked: “I’m coming for him.”
