“UNTAMED bushes. Mould inside the windows. Large room pretending to be a kitchen. If you’re either brave, or unfortunate enough to want to view this property, please drop me an email.”
This is the unusual sales pitch for a bedraggled Bournemouth bungalow.
Simon Ward from estate agent Mr Green has decided honesty is the best policy.
“It saves a lot of time,” said Simon, 25, as he showed the Echo the Southbourne property in question.
“It’s a rundown bungalow so people should expect to come and see a rundown bungalow.”
The three-bedroom, Castlemain Avenue property has peeling wallpaper, mould, decades old fixtures and a general air of gloom.
As Simon’s advert says: “To say it’s not been looked after would be a little bit of an understatement.”
But it’s not the worst place ever.
Simon admits the write-up, a change to the usual spin about “cosy bedrooms” that are actually the size of a rabbit hutch, is also a good marketing ploy.
He’s shown around 10 people so far. Half of them want to knock it down and build flats, but the rest want to live there.
