Up against a solid and original title, Crackdown 2 promises bigger and better with more challenges, more players and a bigger story.
Don't forget the original sold well on launch purely because of the Halo 3 Beta codes that shipped with the game. People actually playing the game suddenly realised that it was better than that, it was actually a well polished sandbox shooter.
You're back in the same city and you're still playing "the good guy". Flipping the premise of titles like GTA on it's head, you're no longer up against the man. You are the man, except this time you're cleansing the streets of not just law breakers, you've got to take out the freaks that come out at night.
What has become apparent from Crackdown 2 is how much could be improved on the first game. Your fellow law enforces play more of a role, the AI has improved immensely, the city feels more alive. Don't get me started on those annoying rogue orbs. They're doing my head in already.
Levelling up feels more progressive and well balanced across all abilities and there are more reasons to actually want to power up. For example, building up your strength gives you extra abilities like barging enemies over. The weapons are even more entertaining and I can't wait to be able to fly across Pacific City!
It's few of the many games I've played that I have actually got 100% gamerscore on and I'm hoping to do the same in the sequel. Download the demo on the 360 now and you can already play to score 100 gamerscore which will unlock when you put in the full retail game when it comes out on the 9th of July. It really is worth giving a go.
