FIVE more primary schools have taken delivery of mini lion sculptures to allow them to take part in Bournemouth’s biggest-ever public art event.

The statues will be decorated and placed on public viewing this summer as part of Pride in Bournemouth.

Organisers are seeking business sponsors for around 50 large lions and hope most primary schools will get involved with a mini sculpture.

Local artists will be commissioned to decorate them and they will eventually be auctioned off to raise money for charities the Born Free Foundation and Julia’s House.

The latest schools to get involved are St Katharine’s, Kings Park, Kingsleigh, Talbot Heath and St Mark’s.

“We have been delighted by the enthusiastic response from Bournemouth’s schools who have embraced the fun and creativity of the project, as well as the educational benefits,” said Pride in Bournemouth Director Charlie Langhorne.

“A few schools are yet to get involved so if your school is one of them, do come and join the fun.”

Pride in Bournemouth follows in the footsteps of similar events held across the country including the Elephant Parade in London and Go Penguins in Liverpool.
