MP Conor Burns says Tesco will be holding a public exhibition of plans for a new supermarket in Bournemouth on Saturday.
The store wants to knock down the shops by Millhams Road and build over them.
Developer Hampton Hill Richmond has been buying out the shop leases.
Mr Burns, MP for Bournemouth West, said the exhibition will take place from noon until 3pm at Kinson Community Centre in Pelhams Park.
The plans will also be up for discussion at the North Bournemouth Area Forum meeting, which takes places at the community centre from 11.30am.
Mr Burns has been trying to find ways of saving The Royal Oak Pub, which is outside the shops, and is also marked for demolition, after receiving more than 600 letters.
He said: “While appearing to be very sympathetic to the issue, the developers were fairly resilient in their view that it would be nigh impossible to develop a profitable site while incorporating The Royal Oak.”
He added: “Overall, I welcome the plans for a Tesco which will be a boost to the north of our town. But if The Royal Oak closes that would be a shame.”
